Gulsin-Onay-700x467-Pianist Gulsin ONAY

To quote Philip A. Metzger from The Morning Call, she is "a well-known figure in European music circles, but not so much in the United States. Her performances made it clear that ignoring her powerful musicality is a mistake." Ms. Onay enjoys an international career spanning over 65 countries and across all continents, and has performed with some of the leading orchestras and conductors of the world.

Highlights from her recent seasons include appearances with Wiener Symphoniker in Vienna, Royal Philharmonic in London, tours with maestro Vladimir Ashkenazy, and concert and recording performances with maestro Jose Serebrier. She opened the 25th Izmir Festival last June with The Philharmonia Orchestra and maestro Esa~Pekka Salonen. Her many albums include two DVDs recently released by VAl Music in the UnitedStates: "Gulsin Onay in Concert", which features her performances of the Grieg Concerto and the Saint-Saens 2nd Concerto, and "Gulsin Onay Live in Recital" ,featuring her critically acclaimed performances from the Miami International Piano Festival.

Her latest CD was released in the United States under the label of Sono Luminus: "Gulsin Onay plays Liszt, Haydn & Schubert" Ms. Onay was the guest of Newport Festival in 1996, where she was hailed as "one of the best pianists to set foot in Newport" by Channing Grey in Providence Journa Bulletin and her Beethoven performance the following year was said to have rivalled that of Schnabel. She gave the opening recital of the 2010 Golandsky Institute Piano Festival, after her debut performance there in 2007, which Ben Finane in NJ Star Ledger had described as "Onay captivated from the outset".

Her Miami International Piano Festival appearances were lauded even more by the press, which you may find at her website. In fact, there is much more about her than can fit in a letter to be found on herwebsite www.gulsinonay.com, including a list of her 40+ concerto repertoire which extends from classical to contemporary with some unusual rarities. The webpage www.gulsinonay.com/videoplayer.html gives a direct link to a varied collection of recent concert videos which speak for themselves.
