ATAA Condemns the Recent Terrorist Attacks in Istanbul

The Assembly of Turkish American Associations strongly condemns last night's terrorist attacks, which killed 17 people and injured more than 150 others on a crowded residential street in Istanbul.  Two consecutive bombs went off in Güngören on Sunday night at 21.57 (GMT+02.00), with an approximately 10 minute interval.  This is the deadliest attack against the civilian population in Istanbul since the Al-Qaida bombings of November 2003, and the second one to take place in the last three weeks.

As the preeminent organization representing the Turkish American community, we mourn the loss of our people, who have perished as a result of this gruesome terrorist activity, and offer our heartfelt condolences to their families and to the Turkish nation.
