ATA Turkish Class Begins October 6, 2008

  

GENERAL:

 ATA-Houston offers Turkish Classes for all levels of proficiency, such as Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. Classes meet once a week in a central location. Depending on the demand for classes, there may be more than once section offered. Students may join the class at anytime. For more information contact ATA-Houston or sign up on the form below.
 

TEACHERS:

Teachers of the classes come from the Turkish community. If you are interested teaching, please use the form below also. Please indicate in the comment section that you are interested in teaching Turkish. We appreciate your efforts.
 

SCHEDULE:

 Classes meet once a week for 10 weeks.
 

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Nominal fee for the course,
2. Students purchase own materials

ATA Turkish and Spanish Classes Begin on  October 6, 2008


ATA-Houston invites you to learn Turkish and Spanish and attend the ATA Turkish - Spanish Language classes. The classes will be at THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON, Farish Hall.

ATA-Houston Language Program is GROWING. ATA-Houston will now offer 4 different classes. We are also adding a new instructor to help in the additional classes. We are pleased to have Ceren Cengiz to fill this capacity.

Another special offering by ATA-Houston is Spanish for Turkish Speakers. The class can be totally geared for Turkish-only speakers or for those that also know English. The teacher will have the flexibiltiy to relate to all. Of course, all are welcomed. Don't miss this opportunity since we may not have this class again if the demand is not there.

This time ATA-Houston is able to offer 3 levels of Turkish classes, Beginner I, Beginner II and Intermediate I.The Spanish class is Beginner.

GUIDELINES for the class levels:

  • Beginner 1: Students that have attended Beginner I classes or those with permission of instructor or those that have completed the first three chapters in Hitit Turkish Language Teaching Set 1.
  • Beginner 2: Students who have attended Beginner II class or those with permission of instructor.
  • Intermediate: Students who have attended the Intermediate class or those with permission of instructor.

TURKISH BEGINNER II (with Vacide) FIRST CLASS: October 11, 2008, Saturday, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM

TURKISH INTERMEDIATE (with Vacide) FIRST CLASS: October 6, 2008, Wednesday, 5:15 - 7:15 PM

SPANISH BEGINNER I (with Ceren) FIRST CLASS: October 11, 2008, Saturday, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM

 

STATUS OF SPECIAL CATCH-UP REVIEW CLASS:
Due to the hurricane this year we were not able to offer a catch-up class. The catch-up class is to help those who have not taken a class with us before and that shows the student where the class will start on the first day of class. Please remember that we are not a formal institution and that we teach to the students in the class. Therefore, we start from where the class left off last time. The most basic class will start at the end of chapter 3 in the Hitit book.

Next session we hope to offer a class that will start at the beginning of the book, i.e., Chapter 1. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Please email me if you have any questions.

The course textbook, Hitit Turkish Language Teaching Set 1 - Basic, 1st Edition, can be ordered from www.tulumba.com. Search on "Hitit."

There is a second edition of the same book. We are not using that one. This edition is totally different, therefore we cannot use it with the other edition.

You can order the book directly from the publisher inTurkey, however, it may take longer. Download this order form so that you can order the book.

Please have the text before the first day of class.
